Year 4 2019 - 2020

Miss Corker

Welcome to the

Year 4

Welcome to Year 4. I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for some hard work in Year 4!

This term our topic question is 'Can you climb a mountain in flip flops?', where Geography will be our main driver as we learn about the features of mountains. I am very excited that this year, we will be going on our class residential to Glaramara! Situated in natural beauty in the Lake District, Year 4 will experience unforgettable learning opportunities whilst developing key life skills.

In addition to this, our class will be continuing the Young Leaders Award. This is taking place over the whole year and will equip and enable children to practise the skills needed to be a successful leader. It is based around serving others and your community and the children will be planning and carrying out a community project this term.

In English we will be focussing on Non-Fiction texts, beginning with an explanation on how mountains are formed. Following this, we will be writing a balanced argument on whether or not it is safe to climb a mountain. We will be looking at inspirational mountaineers, such as Ricky Munday, and exciting books, such as 'Everest Adventures' to aid our writing.

I am looking forward to another exciting term. Please get in contact if you need any further information.

God bless, Miss Corker
