Summer Term - 2018

Summer term is already here!! This year is flying by! the chidlren can wear their summer uniforms (if the weather is kind enough to warm up for us!!) There will be lots happening this term with Sports Day, transition into Year 1 activities, trips, the annual FOB Garden party and this year Mr Waters' retirement - a busy busy term!

In Early Years (Early years foundation stage - EYFS) we do not follow a 'theme' for our learning as we follow the children's interests and plan from their needs. By doing this we engage the children at a deeper level as they are interested in their learning. We cover some mini-topics that occur throughout the year usually linked with festivals, such as Diwali, Eid, Chinese New year, Harvest, Christmas, Easter in addition to some predictable themes that children at this age show a fascination, curiosity and wonder for, i.e. weather, superheroes, animals, dinosaurs, growing, people who help us, but we will cover these as and when the children show their interest in them.

This term we will be learning in the outdoor environment as the weather improves and a focus on gardening and planting as well as creepy crawlies or minibeasts naturally occur due to seasonal changes. We ask that the children still bring in a coat as the weather can be so changeable and that they apply sun cream and bring sunhats to school if it forecast to be hot. Please may we also remind you to bring a water bottle for your child each day.

This term we are 'going live' with Class Dojo and you will receive log in details to your child's account so you can see how many points they receive and what for. These will be linked to our school values as well as academic acheivement.

As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the EYFS team.

What's being said?

Sport at Bollinbrook has really helped my child to flourish. She's grown in confidence and learned so much about teamwork and leadership skills. The school is great at encouraging children to take part and brings out the best in everyone.
