Children's Rights Day 2017 - 2018

Mrs Pickup

Children's rights day- November 20th

Key Stage 2 children were in for a shock when they arrived at school to find the toilets and water fountain taped off. They were told by Mr Panayi and Mrs Cefferty that the water was off. This led to discussions about a right to health and sanitation. Many children described feelings such as annoyed, angry, frustrated and disapponted. This exercise was a hook to capture the childrens' emotions to improve their writing skills. Year 3 found out about communities in Sierra Leone where chlidren have no access to clean fresh water and toilets. They could then see how those children must be feeling.

What's being said?

Sport at Bollinbrook has really helped my child to flourish. She's grown in confidence and learned so much about teamwork and leadership skills. The school is great at encouraging children to take part and brings out the best in everyone.
